“ Lots of people want to ride with you in the limo, but what you
want is someone who will take the bus with you when the limo breaks
down. ”

Public Transport offers an effective alternative to the motor car
for many of the journeys that we make in and around town.
With no parking charges, road rage or dreary refuelling stops it’s no surprise that more people are choosing to travel by public transport. You don’t have to spend ages on a frosty morning clearing the window of your bus or train before you head off and your traveling time can be spent more productively reading a book, catching up with friends or simply having a snooze. One bus can remove 50 car journeys and produces just a tenth of the pollution emitted by a similar number of individual car journeys. Traveling by public transport can also be surprisingly cost effective. You can make a substantial saving on single ticket prices by buying a weekly or monthly pass. For example, 4 weeks of unlimited travel using Stagecoach services within greater Elgin costs just £19*. If you commute daily into central Elgin by car and pay for parking then during the same period you could expect to pay £72** in parking charges alone. By parking further out and walking into town you’ll save on this charge but could still be paying around £37 a month in running costs on your car; based on an average vehicle completing a four mile round trip daily.
