“ All journeys are multimodal, some are just better put together
than others ”
Chris Thompson - Travel Planner

Do you like the idea of travelling more sustainably but don’t want
to loose the perceived freedom that comes from driving a car?
Multi-modal travel is about using the best bits of all modes to get from A to B as neatly as possible. A walk to the bus stop or a drive to the station is multi-modal travel. The ultimate multi-modal tool if probably the folding bicycle. These bikes enable the user to take public transport for part of their journey (usually the long boring/remote sections) and then unfold the bike for the last few miles (usually in town and quickest by bike) Follow some of our suggested links for useful advice on folding bikes including prices and availability for various models. If you journey involves travelling further afield it can often be advantageous to travel by train or coach to avoid long drives, nightmarish traffic and city centre parking. It is often possible to take a full size bike along with you so that you can get right to where you want to be at the other end. Please check with the public transport operator for your journey to find out about conditions for cycle carriage. We will soon be trialling cycle carriage on the selected local buses serving the Elgin area as part of the Urban Freedom project. Register here for notifications and updates to this web site. |
